I thought this day would never come. Finally, after what seems like an eternity since we got the offer, the papers came through on the sale of mom's house. Yes, the albatross has sold. Yippie!
I got the call this morning and she said she'd have the papers ready by noon. I usually have to be at work by 12:30 on wednesdays, but I called in and told them I'd be a bit late after signing a gazillion pieces of paper. Otherwise, I would sign tomorrow and that might delay getting the check beyond then to maybe Friday. Nuh uh.
The title company escrow gal was surprised how calm I was. My realtor laughed and said if she only knew what I'd been through the past few months, you'd be unfazed by a few little errors here and there also. Especially when those errors will be corrected for the final paperwork tomorrow. No biggie.
Let's see...the house on the market for 21 months, medicaid, lawyers, broken hips, hospitals and nursing homes, torn retina, work, deciding to leave work, caregivers that need a reality check, in-laws on vacation with medical emergencies, etc, etc, etc.
Trying to keep my sanity, the house at least kinda clean, food in the fridge, bills paid on time, mom safe, and the hubby happy is getting really challenging. Soon it will all sort out. It has to get better. I'm not going to tempt worse by saying 'it cant get w_____'. Murphy doesn't need the invitation, thank you very much. His law messes with my life plenty as it is!
So, the final paperwork for the albatross should clear some time tomorrow. Then we get the joy of refinancing the house, signing over 46% of the house to mom, and finalizing the care giving contract between mom and I.
Vacation anyone? Now? Yesterday, even?
