stunned disbelief

All is going well with the job and mom fronts. My big shockers this week were unrelated to my usual life drama.

You could've landed a squadron of flies in my mouth when I heard on the radio how many millions of dollars the presidential candidates are spending on their campaigns. Around $45 MILLION each. Does anyone else find this absurd? Hello, Gulfport MS is still in ruins from Katrina! You could rebuild and house the whole town on a fraction of one candidate's budget. What's wrong with the priorities in this country?

As I came in to work yesterday, one of my coworkers was demonstrating a puppet. I only saw it from the back and said, "oh, it looks like a tribble!" Blank look. "A what?" she replied. Turns out that there are at least three people working at my library who have no clue what a tribble is. I thought Star Trek was a ubiquitous cultural icon for everyone over the age of 20. Heck, I probably have friends whose kids know what a tribble is. *sigh* What's the world coming to?

And the Obvious Man "Duh!" moment of the week goes to my mom. She was complaining about feeling weak, much more so than when she was at M&M. Hmmmm. How often did you do PT up there? At least once a day, often twice. Uh huh. And how often have you done your PT exercises since you got home? Ummmmm....Once? Needless to say mom's doing lots more of her exercises now. *grin*

Time to get myself boogie-ing off to work.
